Shopping in Cappadocia is a cultural experience in itself. There is tea to be drunk, conversation to be had, bartering to be done and friends to make! We can guide you through the whole process to make it an enjoyable and fun experience.
The goods that are particular to this part of Turkey are handmade carpets and kilims, pottery, onyx, jewellery, fine wines and also handicrafts made by local women such as beautiful knitted, crocheted and beaded scarves, knitwear and table linen. There are also local artists and sculptors in Cappadocia and some of their work can be viewed and purchased if desired.
Many beautiful kilims in Turkey originate from the Yahyahli region which is just 2 hours away from Goreme. Women of the Nomadic tribes hand-make these kilims in their yurts (tents) which are perched up on the mountainside. They spin and dye the wools using natural plants and create their very own designs and motifs. These kilims are unique; a one off work of art that will definitely last many generations.
We can arrange workshops, personal art viewings, visits to carpet weavers and visits to local craftsmen and women in their homes. If you are only interested in the workmanship you can sit back, window shop and enjoy the interaction with no obligation to make a purchase.
